Alder makes a beautifully clean, responsive lumpwood charcoal. It lights readily, reaches cooking temperature quickly and gives a good, even heat, making it ideal for everyday barbecuing as well as more delicate foods.

Its flavour is mild and subtle, with a light smoky character that won’t overpower your food. Particularly well suited to fish, chicken, pork and vegetables.
