M.G.E Coppicing Ltd British Sweet Chestnut Fencing & Traditional Coppicing

Traditional Coppicing & Woodland Management
Coppicing is a traditional form of woodland management that has shaped British woodlands for centuries.
Mature trees are cut close to ground level, allowing new shoots to naturally regenerate from the established stool. Over time, these grow to produce another sustainable crop of timber.
By continuing this traditional cycle, we produce useful British timber while keeping woodlands actively managed and encouraging healthy regeneration.
Much of our work centres around sweet chestnut coppice, which provides an excellent naturally durable timber for fencing.

Local Timber. Fully Utilised.
We believe in making the best possible use of the timber produced through our woodland management.
Suitable sweet chestnut is selected and processed into fencing products, while other timber can be used for firewood and charcoal production.
Our Chiddingfold Lumpwood Charcoal is another part of this approach — transforming locally sourced British hardwood into a high-quality, useful product rather than allowing suitable timber to go to waste.
It’s all part of making better use of our local woodland resource.
